Expat & World Traveler Holiday Gift Guide
Do you know someone that lives overseas and you’re not sure what to get them? Or maybe someone you know is going on a year long trip and you want to give them a gift for their trip?
Or are you doing a little shopping for yourself...
This gift guide has great ideas for people that live overseas. They’re practical and small enough to fit in suitcases and not take up valuable space!

The Gift List
Universal Power Strip & Surge Protector - I literally have 6 of these all around my Buenos Aires apartment. They’re especially helpful if you’re planning to travel to or live in multiple countries.
Kindle - It’s very hard (if not impossible in some countries) to find books written in English when you’re living overseas. So having a Kindle will give you access to any book you want with only a wifi connection.
Ziploc Space Bags - These are great for when you’re moving or going on a longer trip that requires more clothes...skiing anyone?? You can put so many things in them - blankets, sweaters, clothes, pillows, sheets, towels. These even make travelling with special pillows and blankets easy!
Debbie Meyer Green Bags - These have been a lifesaver and money saver for me! Not gonna lie - sometimes the produce you get overseas is questionable. It’s not like in the USA where each apple at the supermarket is bright red and shiny. These green bags help keep our fruits and veggies better for longer. And the best part is they’re reusable for up to 10 times!
Frequency Dictionary - This is a dictionary but the words are not in alphabetical order. They are in order of frequently used. So if your expat or world traveller is working on learning a new language, this will be invaluable. They will learn the most common words first! Here’s the one I used in Buenos Aires when I was working on my Spanish.
Binoculars - The expat in your life probably moved overseas because they love traveling. Whether you’re visiting nature or a large famous city, binoculars bring the far away and hard to see up close and personal. We fell in love with our pair so much on safari that we purchased a second pair so we didn’t have to share!!
Sleep Sound Machine - If your expat has moved to a large city, chances are, there’s a lot of city noise and they might be having trouble sleeping. If that’s the case, this sleeping machine will be a life saver. We use ours every night in Buenos Aires. My favorite settings are the beach waves and rainstorm.
And here are some great bonus stocking stuffers!
Command Strips - When you live overseas, you’re usually renting so you don’t want to damage your walls with holes. These command strips are perfect for hanging small items on walls without damage! I’ve been using them myself for 7 years!!
Luggage Micro Scaler - Wave goodbye to excess baggage fees! This will come in handy when your expat or world traveller is trying to maximize their luggage allowance! Each time I went back to Angola or Argentina, I would fill suitcases to their brim and weigh them to make sure I got as close to the weight limit as possible! This is the one we have used since 2014...for at least 20 trips! Get it, it will last forever!
These are all great products and gifts you can’t go wrong with; I’ve personally used all these products while living overseas as an expat. The expat or world traveller in your life will be so excited to unwrap these gifts this holiday season!
